    Baby Blake!

Posted in: Toddlers by Rick O

Bubbly Blake -N- Nacho were totally awesome to work with this past weekend.  Blake was just such an awesome subject and I was totally blown away by Nacho.. Nacho would change his pose with every few shutter clicks, what an amazing human-like-pug.

Here are a few of my favorites from the session, starting off with a close up shot of those baby blue, Enjoy!

Dad was blowing bubbles in an endless attempt to make Blake smile, Dad even was doing a little dance and singing (ooh the moments I wish I had my iPhone closer – would have been awesome here on the blog!)

Blake just had amazing charm with his little poses I happened to catch him in!

I think at this point he was looking at Dad dancing and singing and wondering… Hmm Dad!!

Mom wanted to pop Blake in a basket!

This was the most ginormous chair I think I have ever seen, I think even the little Burger King King would look small in it!

Nacho! What an amazing little doggie!  I took this shot about a foot away, he was so cooperative!

It was great meeting you Blake, Nacho, Mom & Dad!

    Leah & Simon!

Posted in: Newborns, Toddlers by Rick O

This past Saturday (… i really need to stop starting all my blog posts the same way – it has to be boring!)

    So let’s try something new!

The day before this past Sunday (… nope, that’s kinda lame and dorkish – fits me well!)

On the 20th of February twenty-10 (… ugh… not working for me either)

A little over 48 hours ago I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Leah & Simon!  I did some commercial work for their Dad late last year and his wife inquired about a family portrait session.  After several reschedules due to Simon not feeling well, me not feeling well, Leah not feeling well, etc we finally managed to connect this past Saturday (dang I was so trying to avoid that!)

Simon was totally decked out in an awesome little outfit and had the coolest kiddo hat I think I have ever seen!  Leah was absolutely adorable as well, but she was a little angry that I had to move her toys to set things up – officially she asked “why are you making such a mess?”  I couldn’t help but chuckle!

Leah took a bit of warming up.. She WOULD NOT sit on the setup unless I first photographed Cinderella, and naturally I obliged, after she looked on the LCD screen (this was to verify I actually took the picture) and Cinderalla was still okay and nothing bad happened, Leah was ready to go!

I had a fantastic time working with Leah & Simon.. If there is one thing that can get me everytime, its when a young child shows me affection and feels safe!  Leah came over to me after I broke down my setup and gave me a hug and whispered (thank you for cleaning up your mess) – It was moving to say the least!

Enough babbling, here are some of my favorites, starting with a little sibling action!

A little grin from Simon here in this next shot!

    And a huge smile here!

Simon was totally rockin this hat – reminds me of a little boy from the 40’s!

Leah was resistant to sit alone at first even after Cinderella turned out to be ok, so Mom popped in for a bit!

Mom wanted to get up and out of the way and you can definitely see how Leah felt about that!

I absolutely love this next shot!

See how happy Leah was after I “cleaned up my mess!”

After I was done, had put everything away but my camera, I saw Leah lost in the moment and had to grab one more!

It really was great meeting the two of you and thanks for the laughs!

    Lana!

Posted in: General by Rick O

I received an inquiry a couple weeks ago from Lana… She wanted to give a little something of herself to her husband for Valentine’s Day; specifically some tantalizing images of herself!

We had to secretly plan the shoot when he wouldn’t be around. I mean what kind of surprise would it be, if he knew about it!

I don’t do this type of session frequently, so, fellow photogs, cut me some slack!  Lana definitely was a natural and has been in front of the camera lots o times before, which was definitely a tremendous help!  With every click of the shutter, her posed changed – how welcoming!

Alas, here are the B&W images from the session… Enjoy!

Totally has the Jenny M look in this next shot – least I think so!

Lana, it was great working with you… Hope your hubby enjoys the images!

    Jocelyn’s Sweet 16

Posted in: Sweet 16 by Rick O

Last Saturday I headed down to Norwalk to photograph a “coming of age” so-to-speak!  It was Jocelyn’s Sweet 16 and it was held at Chatham Manor.

Jocelyn’s family was so welcoming when I arrived.  Her little brother came running out to see if I needed any help carrying anything in to their home, I thought that was absolutely wonderful of him!

When I first met Jocelyn she showed me to her room where her dress, shoes, jewelry, etc were.  Whenever I saw her shoes I couldn’t help but say “guess this ain’t gonna be no Nashville party!” (Yes a line stolen from a Miley Cyrus song), but it was at that moment I saw Jocelyn totally relax!

    Some of the super-fab details!

Take a look at those shoes – a super big O M G! Were those some rockin’ heels or what?

    Jocelyn putting her earrings on!

I absolutely loved this next shot of Jocelyn, the whole feel of the image just reminds me of time passed.

    Arrival at Chatham Manor!

Whole lotta her friends having a great time up in the Bridal Suite waiting to head on downstairs!

Jocelyn with a couple of her close friends!

A big ole rockin dance party

This next shot is of Jocelyn’s brother – just loved catching this moment!

Jocelyn, it was a pleasure meeting you and your family.. I wish you the best of luck each and every new year..

Several weeks ago Stephanie contacted me to set up her and Eric’s engagement session.  She wanted to do it as soon as possible before the city of Stamford started turning off or disconnecting the street Christmas lights!

Last Friday night I met Stephanie and Eric at their house and we headed downtown to get a few shots, after meandering around town we wrapped up the session at the town hall and here are a few images from their session.

These two were SO into each other I had to close my eyes from time-t0-time!!!

I really was hoping that Sinatra would be walking in the background with a coat thrown over his shoulder and sporting a Fedora, but no such luck!

I can’t wait for your wedding this summer guys, it’s going to be super fun!

On Saturday I rocked on out to East Hanover, NJ – specifically to Power House Studios for John’s Bar Mitzvah reception.  I headed out there the prior Wednesday to shoot the formal ceremonial images as no photographs are allowed to be taken during the actual ceremony which took place Saturday morning…  Being this, my first solo Bar Mitzvah; that worked out quite well and I really want to thank Debbie (John’s Mom) for really giving me lots of insight and directing me on Wednesday!

When I walked into Power House Studios I gasped!  Other than shooting a few Rock-N-Roll bands in environments which were completely black I actually have never photographed any sort of reception in a venue that was completely and I mean completely black.  Needless to say lighting was a challenge and I was grateful I had my video light with me (which by the way seems to have come loose from its fixture - have any other photogs had this issue?)

So after my little introduction and whining, lets get on with the images!

This first shot just absolutely says so much.. I was 13 years old some 25 years ago and I so remember my state of mind, being and innocence.  When I look at some of these images of John that’s what I recall – “innocence

This next image I just find captivating, I actually asked John to pose this way for the exact reasons that the image depicts..

Now on to the reception! And the Horah going on here!!! Yay John!

    Little reception portrait!

Wow! Check out all of these 13 +/- year olds – let me tell you they nearly wiped me out in as-far-as energy – holy cow!  I really did have fun though (shhh don’t let the parents know!)

Did I mention that John plays drums in a Rock-N-Roll Band???  Yup he sure does and let me tell you, he was very good – very tight without a doubt and didn’t miss a beat.

I was really diggin the light in these next few shots of him on drums.. It was just incredible

It was great working with you John along with your parents Mike & Debbie as well as your siblings Andrew and Jayne!

    Mazel Tov!
